Reusable Manicures? So-called Soft Gel Press Ons claim exactly that. Truth or marketing trick? Here’s the no-bullshit answer
The result of this reuse test will absolutely shock you.
I’m Laura M. 48, beauty editor and former nail salon addict.
For over ten years, I’ve been testing everything the beauty world hypes up. From luxury skincare to drugstore finds and the latest social media trends. And I’ve heard plenty of promises that turned out to be nothing more than marketing fairy tales.
If you’ve ever tried press-on nails, you know the problem:
❌ after a few days one pops off,
❌ your natural nails are covered in glue residue,
❌ they feel damaged,
❌ and over time it just gets expensive.
So when I saw the “reusable Doonails Soft Gel Press Ons” on TikTok, I rolled my eyes.
“Sure. Reusable? How is that supposed to work?!”
But since it’s my job to test what everyone else just posts about, I couldn’t let it go.
I wanted to know: is it really possible to have beautiful, strong, reusable nails without the salon, UV light, or harsh chemicals?
So I ordered the Doonails Starter Set with 20% off and a free design, and decided to test it properly.
Three rounds. No filters. No sponsorships.
In this article, I’ll show you:
🔄 whether the nails can really be reused
💅 how they looked after each round
💸 and if they’re truly worth it or just another beauty hype.

Round #1 – The first 7-minute manicure

Application? As easy as promised.
Pick the right size, stick on the adhesive tab, press down and done.
In seven minutes, I had salon-quality nails without UV lamps, appointments, or spending $80.
I wore them for 14 days while cooking, working, playing with my kids, even swimming. And yes, all ten stayed on.
They didn’t look fake, felt completely natural, like my own nails, just better.
Round #2 – Removal and reuse

With the Remover Oil, taking them off was super easy: massage it in, soak briefly in warm water, lift gently with the wooden stick, and that’s it.
No pain, no damage, and my nails looked perfectly healthy.
I peeled the old adhesive tabs off the Press Ons and reapplied them just like in round one.
This time it was even faster—under ten minutes for a fresh, flawless manicure while watching my favorite show.
Round #3 – Still flawless the third time around

After another 14 days, I wanted to know if it was all just luck, so I reused them a third time.
I was genuinely surprised. They held almost as well as the first time.
No cracks, no dullness, and they still looked neat and polished.
That’s when I realized the “reusable” claim might actually be true. Plus, you save a lot of money compared to salon visits.
Even my friends started testing them. Our group chat is now full of “French,” “Prosecco Nude,” and “Red Cat Eye”-Pics. Apparently, I wasn’t the only one who doubted the trend at first.
What I learned after 3 rounds of Doonails
Reusable? ✅
Gentle on nails? ✅
Quick and effortless? ✅

After three rounds, you can see some light signs of wear. The tips aren’t quite as shiny as on day one, and with lighter designs, you might spot tiny scratches if you look closely.
But the result is still impressive. The nails stay on, come off easily, and can be reused without harming your natural nails.
Conclusion: These are the first press-ons that actually deliver what they promise: They are long-lasting, nail-friendly, and much cheaper than any salon visit.
I’m saving time, money, and honestly, patience, while still looking like I just left the nail salon every day.
Sounds too good to be true? Try it yourself.
